Patriot and Me

6  -  36 mos

-Parent/guardian MUST ACCOMPANY child in water.

-Water adjustment, kicking, back float, water entries and exits.
-Parents will learn holding positions and basic safety skills.

PeeWee Patriots I

3  – 5 yrs

-Child MUST leave parent willingly.
-Be comfortable in water.
-Follow directions and function well in a group.

-Orients child to an aquatic environment through kicking on front, back, supported floating, arm paddling & water safety.

PeeWee Patriots II

3  – 5 yrs

-Can float on back and stomach without flotation.
-Can hold breath with face under water at least five sec.

-Basic pool rules/water safety.
-Swim three yards on front with minimal help.

Swimming
PeeWee Patriots

3  – 5 yrs

-Ability to swim 3 to 5 yards of freestyle and backstroke on their own.
-MUST be comfortable in water over their heads.

-Focus on developing front crawl, backstroke, and basic diving skills.

Freshman Patriots

6  – 12 yrs

-Be comfortable in water.
-Follow directions and function well in a group.

-Learn safety rules, blowing bubbles, supported floating and kicking on the front and back.

Sophomore Patriots

6  – 12 yrs

-Successful completion of Freshman Patriots.
-Demonstrate floating and kicking on front/back with help.

-Learn to float on their own, recover to a standing position safely and alternate arm action for forward and backward movement.

Junior
Patriots

6  – 12 yrs

-Successful completion of Sophomore Patriots.
-Can float on back and stomach without help.
-Swim front crawl and back stroke for 5 yards.

-Learn to tread water, rotary breathing, diving from the side.
-Continue to master their previous skills.
-Introduction to breaststroke and elementary back.

Senior
Patriots

6  – 12 yrs

-Successful completion of Junior Patriots.
-Swim front crawl and backstroke 15 yards.
-Can tread water for 30 seconds.

-Develop confidence as they increase their swimming endurance.
-Introduction to sidestroke, butterfly and feet first surface dives.

Beginner
Adult

13 yrs – adult

-Basic skills for adults with little or no experience in the water.

-Learn floating and basic propulsion, freestyle with rotary breathing, backstroke, submersion and treading water.

Advanced Beginner Adult

13 yrs – adult

-MUST be able to swim 10 yards of freestyle and backstroke.

-Learn breaststroke, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke.
-Introduction to butterfly, flip turns, and overall stroke improvement.

Patriot and Me (age 6 mos - 36 mos) 4 min-10 max

Parent/guardian MUST ACCOMPANY child in water.  They will experience water adjustment, kicking, back float, water entries and exits.  Parents will learn holding positions and basic safety skills.  Songs, games and other fun activities are used to help children become more comfortable in water.

Child MUST leave parent willingly, be comfortable in water, follow directions and function well in a group.  This class orients children to an aquatic environment through kicking on front, back, supported floating, arm paddling & water safety.

Child is able to leave parent willingly, be comfortable in water, follow directions and function well in a group.  PREREQUISTE:  ability to float on back and stomach without help from instructor and to hold breath with  the face under water at least five seconds.

SCHOOL AGE

Freshman Patriots (age 6 yrs – 12 yrs)4 min-10 max

The objective for this class is to help children, feel comfortable in water.  Students will learn safety rules, blowing  bubbles, supported floating and kicking on the front and back.

For students who have successfully completed Sophomore Patriots or who can demonstrate all skills learned from that class.  Students will learn to tread water, rotary breathing, diving from the side, and continue to master their  previous skills.  They will also have an introduction to breaststroke and elementary back.

For students who have successfully completed Junior Patriots or who can demonstrate all skills learned from that class.   Students will develop confidence as they increase their swimming endurance.  Mastery of previous skills is emphasized and sidestroke, butterfly and feet first surface dives are introduced.

Beginner Adult (age 13 yrs – adult)
